Alexa and Firefox

Most of us know that Alexa, the web information company, gather a lot of information about Internet user using their Internet Explorer Toolbar. But because of huge numbers of Internet users moved from IE to Firefox totally, Alexa are not able to get the information like they want.

Sparky by AlexaRecently, Alexa added Sparky, the Alexa toolbar for Firefox users. Sparky is a free FireFox browser plugin built by Alexa, that accompanies you as you surf, providing useful information about the sites you visit without interrupting your Web browsing.

Some of the Sparky features include:

  • Related Links: Find sites that are similar to the one you are currently visiting.
  • Traffic Trend: A sparkline showing the traffic trend from the last four months.
  • Reach Meter: A neat little indicator that shows the site’s Reach.
  • Traffic Rank: Shows the current site’s Alexa Traffic Rank.

If you are using Firefox, and owned a website, this extension may be good for you to increase your Alexa Rank. To get more pictures about Alexa Sparky extension, you can view more about this here and here. To download it, click here. You need to accept it policy before you download the extensions.

If you do not like to use Alexa Sparky Firefox extensions, you can use SearchStatus extensions. This extension will display the Google PageRank, Alexa rank and Compete ranking anywhere in your browser, along with fast keyword density analyser, keyword and nofollow highlighting, backward andrelated links, Alexa info and more.

SearchStatus Firefox Extension

“For every web page you visit while using SearchStatus (excluding secure domains and those you have configured as private), certain information, including your ip address, the url of the web page you visit, and general information about your browser and computer’s operating system will be transmitted from your computer to Alexa. Some of the url’s you visit, which are transmitted to Alexa, will contain information that is personally identifiable.”

I installed both SearchStatus and Alexa Sparky toolbar on my Firefox but I keep SearchStatus active since the one provided by Alexa seems to make my browser ‘hang’. If you ask me, I will prefer SearchStatus more (:
