WordPress 2.3.3 Released

Latest WordPress 2.3.3 has been released.

WordPress 2.3.3 is an urgent security release. A flaw was found in our XML-RPC implementation such that a specially crafted request would allow any valid user to edit posts of any other user on that blog. In addition to fixing this security flaw, 2.3.3 fixes a few minor bugs. If you are interested only in the security fix, download the fixed version of xmlrpc.php and copy it over your existing xmlrpc.php. Otherwise, you can get the entire release here.

Also, there is a vulnerability in the WP-Forum plugin that is being actively exploited right now. If you are using this plugin, please remove it until an update is available.

Since we are talking security, remember to use strong passwords and change them regularly. While you’re updating WP and your plugins, consider refreshing your passwords.

WordPress 2.3.1 Release Candidate 1

WordPress 2.3.1 is almost ready to go. Before the release send it out the door, there are making a release candidate available so everyone can give it a last look.

2.3.1 fixes over twenty bugs. Some of the notable fixes are:

Tagging support for Windows Live Writer
A login bug that affected those with a Blog Address different than
their WordPress Address is fixed
Faster taxonomy database queries, especially tag intersection queries
Link importer fixes

WordPress 2.3 Release Candidate 1

WordPress just release it first candidate for the version 2.3 and is now available for download. The final release will be available on Monday, September 24th. Please keep in mind that the Release Candiate one is still consider as pre-release software, so always take backup before you upgrading your WordPress latest version. WordPress 2.3 and Plugins Compatibility

As you probably know, WordPress are now developing the new version of WordPress 2.3. The Beta 3 was released a few days ago with the First Candidate for WordPress 2.3 is going to be announced anytime soon. Beside that, they previously update the WordPress 2.2 version with the release of 2.2.3, which is a security and bug-fix release for the 2.2 series. To get 2.2.3, please see the download page.

WordPress 2.3 First Candidate

WordPress, the leading blogging software for bloggers, will release its First Candidate of WordPress 2.3 this Monday, September 17, 2007. Their Beta 3, and the final beta for WordPress 2.3 was released and is now available. The Beta 3 however is a pre-release software and is still being tested.
